Women’s Self Defense Workshop

Empowering Women to Live Happier and Safer Lives

Auburn, June 18, 2009 – Everyone wants to keep themselves and their families safe.  According to the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network  (www.rainn.org/statistics):  1 in 6 women and 1 in 33 men in the US are victims of rape, and college age women are 4 times more likely to sexually assaulted.  In 2007, that amounted to nearly a quarter of a million women being sexually assaulted. We need to educate ourselves on how to stay safe and taking a self defense class is the first step to doing this.  (Click on Picture to download )

McCoy’s Action Karate has been in Central Massachusetts since 1994, and teaching personal safety as a community service the entire time. They are holding a free Women’s Self Defense Workshop Thursday July 2, 2009 at their schools in Auburn and Sturbridge MA. Both classes start at 7:00pm and are free to anyone preregistered. “I love to see the ladies sparkle with confidence,” says Anne McCoy, a 6th Degree Black Belt and owner of McCoy’s Action Karate. “The Self Defense they learn in this workshop is intuitive and they get to practice it and take it home with them,” Anne says of the class. The class is open to all adult women and teenagers age 15 and up, if accompanied by an adult women taking the class.

The MAK Women’s Self Defense class is an Adrenaline based, Realistic Scenario Self-defense Workshop for Women! Those who attend will not only learn how to defend themselves against some common attacks, they will get to test them out, and know that they can do it in the real world. In addition, each women attending will get a pamphlet published by MAK covering many of the topics covered in class and many things they can do on their own to boost their safety.
