Syllabus of Programs of
McCoy's Action Karate
A biography of McCoy's Action Karate
and its owners
McCoy's Action Karate was founded October 1994 in Auburn MA. By October 1995 McCoy's Action Karate
qualified for and was awarded the distinction of becoming a Black Belt School's
International certified school. Black Belt Schools International is
headquartered in Coral Springs Fl,
www.unitedprofessionals.com. In 2000 McCoy's Action Karate opened its second
school in Spencer MA.
In1996 Paul McCoy was awarded Black
Belt Schools International's "Man of the Year," and served 1 year on its board
of directors.
In 1998 McCoy's Action Karate qualified
for and was awarded membership in BBSI's Gold Club, for excellence in student
service and has maintained that distinction since that date. In 2002 McCoy's
Action Karate qualified for, and awarded BBSI's Platinum Club membership for
superior student service and is still a member.
The school owners are Anne and Paul
McCoy, who are both Master Black Belt instructors, certified by the Cheezic
Federation of Tang Soo Do, and are both BBSI certified instructors as well.
McCoy's Action Karate's curriculum is
developed for each age group; 2-4, 5 - 7, 8 - 11, 12 - 17, 17 and up, with
learning and physical abilities accounted for. 100% of their staff is
professional trained and paid, an oddity in the martial arts world.
McCoy's Action Karate has developed its
own system for insuring the learning of the mental and physical benefits most
karate schools claim, but few achieve. The program is called STARS, and is an
interactive learning tool used monthly with their parents at home to insure that
their children students have experienced the monthly mental lessons.
McCoy's Action Karate has also
developed a unique system for ensuring success in promotion to black belt. Most
karate schools are averaging 1 out of 1000 who start, while MAK is a little
better than 1 out of 10.
2000 - McCoy's Action Karate has also
developed its own version of BBSI Kids Smart program, used by permission, to
take a proactive stance on preventing child abduction, as well as helping in the
recovery process. The program is called stranger danger, and is taught to all of
the schools first year students, as well as in FREE seminars to the public. They
have taught it to many Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, schools, camps and
many other children organizations.
2002 - McCoy's Action Karate added Self Defense to its programs to
teach Self Defense to those who did not want traditional karate.
In September of 2003, in response to
local needs, McCoy's Action Karate added a women's only self defense program.
The program is a 8 week course, taught 4 times a year. The Co-ed version,
taught continuously, is the Self Defense program.
In October 2005 McCoy's Action Karate added Kickboxing CDF
(Cardio- Defense-Fitness). MAK designed this program to emulate training in
Kickboxing for its fitness and defense capabilities without any of the risks of
fighting. The class is ONE OF A KIND and has a waiting list to attend.
